A great read about a shifter named Griffin part eagle part lion but he had a problem with shifting. Every time that he attempted to shift he would get stuck physically and mentally his two animals were always at each other throats trying to fight for dominance. Griffin while on desk duty on the switchboard hears that a woman calls stating that her son turned into a cat and was stuck up a tree. Griffin goes to the site and meets his mate Danny mom. Griffin knows that he is dying slowly but surely because he has never been able to completely shift and he is also having physical ailments due to the unsuccessful shift, his knees are hurting him so he is unable to be a firefighter. Hayley's ex who is Danny father never told Hayley that he was a shifter so she was surprise when her son shifted and had no one to turn to because Reiner left as soon as she got pregnant.Product details

** Slight Spoiler Ahead **
This was a pretty good book. I really liked it for the first 1/3 - 1/2 of the story, in particular, I liked how the main characters met. Pretty cute scene.
But overall, the story just kept getting more and more depressing. I felt like too large of a portion of the book was spent with everyone feeling hopeless or distressed -- and then everything turns out okay at the very last. But to me, the final happy resolution didn't quite outweigh all that previous anxiety.
I accidentally read Firefighter Unicorn before this so I had a little bit of a spoiler going in. It's clear from the very beginning of this book what's going to happen so you'll see the twist coming a mile away but that doesn't make it any less awesome in my book. The only reason I gave 4 stars is I feel these books are somewhat short, but they work for what they are meant to be. I feel like they could be longer but perhaps the chemistry they have going would be lost. This was one of my favorites of the series because of how fiercely he fights for his mate. Gotta love the little boy too, so adorable!
Hayley & her son Danny meet Griff when he comes to their home to get Danny out of a tree where he was stuck. Once Griff saw Hayley he knew she was his mate; but for him this wasn't just a happy feeling but also one of grief as he's dying.
Hayley hadn't known that shifters existed until her son turned into a lion cub & got stuck up in a tree. But, now she knows a lot more than she did; she even knows that she's Griff's mate. He wasn't going to tell her but it all came out while she was asking him questions about shifters.
This story was very good in that it has some suspenseful moments in it (& I'm not telling you what they are); a couple of nondescriptive sex scenes & a fight scene.
Is a shifter who can't shift a shifter? Apparently not. At least as far as the Shifter judges are concerned. That is what is destroying firefighter dispatcher Griff. He's resigned himself to a very short life if he can't get his two beasts to peacefully co-exist. Now that he has found his mate, add his mate's shifter son and her son's father and his life is even more complicated. Zoe Chant weaves an exciting tale of action, suspense, steamy romance with a dash of humor to create an HEA to please every romantic. Get this book. Better yet, get the whole series. Happy reading!
Not my favourite book of the series. Left a little frustrated with the story because here you have the main character Griff having a lifetime of pain and internal battle with two conflicting animals, an eagle and a lion. All along I'm thinking, "just merge them become a griffin". So then I assume that everyone doesn't know that a griffin can exist, even the Phoenix or Pegasus or dragon. What?? So then at the very end out of desperation Griff merges them and becomes a griffin and then everyone is like, "that was what he was suppose to be all along". Everyone even his mate knows about griffins. So that part of the storyline didn't make sense. Besides this it was an OK read, I liked the little boy Danny's storyline.
Love the entire series but this one is the best so far, hands down. The emotions Ms Chant took me through was indescribable. Just all the feels. As much as I loved Griff (almost wanted to start praying for that man) and Haley (fierce momma), Danny and John Doe stole the show for me. Seriously wanted to wrap those two in the biggest hug possible. Eagerly waiting for John (next please) and Ash (got a feeling that man is just as complicated as Griff).
Haley and Griffin met when she called the fire department to get her 'cat' out of the tree. In real life, her 'cat' was actually her son, a lion cub shifter. Griffin had to take a dispatcher job because he could no longer be a fireman due to injury. He was a part of an all shifter crew. When Griffin met Haley, he realized she was his mate and since he was half lion and half eagle, he was unable to shift, but, he was able to teach her son how to shift back to his human form. As time went by, their feelings grew stronger. You'll need to read this book to discover what happens next and how Griffin finally shifted into a majestic Griffin. I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure you will too!
